I thought that it is high time for me to update with some of the written recipes, crafts and updates. So here are a few things that I have done with my homemade bread that I do. This is something I was just playing around with and haven't done before...it was yummy and very good!!

When I was younger I worked at Auntie Anne's. I was the "pretzel girl" lol...it's what the regular costume's called me. lol...Mine doesn't have the "double twisted" but you get the point.

Wheat Bread & Rolls

With the bread recipe that I have. I decided that I would try something new and make Wheat Bread and Rolls. And Boy where they good!!

Here you will see the First time the dough has to raise.

And here are the pictures of the Second time the bread dough has to raise.

Sour Dough Bread

This is the original Sour Dough Bread that my Mom makes. This bread is make from a yeast that you always have to have 1 cup and feed it every 7-10 days. She has keep this going for already 7 years more or less.

I started from the yeast that she had and have done it now for awhile as well. If you have had this kind of Sour Dough Bread you will know what I mean, It's delicious. I am still trying to prefect it and getting it to taste just like Mama bread. It's coming.

This is what you will need if you ever want to try it.

1 cup of yeast (note: that if you want to make this kind of sour dough bread, you have to use this same yeast that Mom or I use - it can not be from the packages in the stores)

Feeding the starter - (in the morning time - feed every 7-10 days)
Take starter out of refrigerate...
it always has to start with 1 cup of yeast
1 cup of warm water (it has to be warm, not cool and not hot)
3-4 tablespoons of potato flakes
3/4 cups of white sugar

Stir all together and put the lid loose on the top of the jar and let it set for 5-7 hours depending the the temp. in your house

Making the Bread - (that same day in the evening)
Stir yeast
Take 1 cup of yeast out of the jar and put in large mixing bowl
1 1/2 cups of warm water (still have to be warm, not hot or cold. very important)
1/2 cup of oil
1 teaspoon of salt
Then slowly mix in 6 cups of flower (unbleached)

Mix together and make into big ball
Set it back in the the same mixing bowl
Cover with cloth or paper towel and let it set over night (needs to set out for 8 hours give or take the temp. of your house)

Baking the Bread - (morning of the next day)
Divided into bread pans and let it rise again for another 3-4 hours.

Pre Heat oven for *350
Bake for 20 minutes, till bread is golden brown (every oven is different so check the bread often)

If your really interested in making this kind of Sour Dough Bread (and your local) feel free to give me a call and I can get you started with a cup of yeast. And you can make all kinds, from Wheat Bread, Dinner Rolls, Cinnamon Rolls, ect. Have fun and try new things with it.

Bread Crumbs

Bread Crumbs anyone? How many of you have bought the bread crumbs in the store? Did you know you can make your own? Not hard at all...

Of course I bread left over bread from the bread that I make. But you can make it from any kind of bread you wish.

In a food processor blend together. This might take a few minutes depending how big your bread is when you put it in.

Then add your spices. I used Italian spices.

My Italian Spice Blend

1 tablespoon basil
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon marjoram
1 tablespoon thyme
1 tablespoon crushed fennel seed
1 tablespoon dried lemon peel (optional)

When storing this, you can use anything. I use a one of the baby food jars. Their great for storing things like this.

After it's all blended together, you can either broil it for a few seconds...make sure you stay at your oven or it will get black. Or just use it as it is. Sometimes I broil it and sometimes I don't. I guess it just depends on how much time you have.

Store in freezer in air tight container.

Homemade Sour Dough Garlic Bread
