It's a bright and sunny morning where we are and I couldn't help up just sit down and update a little bit. As I sit here sipping my hot coffee, listening to Jeremy Camp and with the background of the kids playing and laughing is such a wonderful sound. I have an wonderful husband that I couldn't have asked for better. One who loves Christ first like it should be. One that leads his family in a Christ loving home. And one who loves me unconditionally. Our kids are amazing, very loving and very caring. We both have amazing family and nor I or my husband couldn't have asked for better ones. They love, support, care and pray for each other like families should do.
It's been hard since Quinn doesn't have a job yet. But we are still faithful and believe that the right job will come in His timing. Sometimes the waiting is the hardest, but knowing that God is for us! We may not have money and may not have money coming in. But God is still provides for us all.
God is so good!

It's Her Name
The other night Mckayla was working on spelling her full name and she asked, "Why did you give me such a hard long name?" LOL I don't know, hun It's what your daddy, Jesus and I came up with. :) "Oh, okay...I guess it's okay, it's just hard."

After living here going on three months now. We finally get to move all of our stuff out of storage and into our new house that we made into our home. We got our new carpet yesterday, so that has been a real treat! The carpet was here in this place for almost 40 years! Yeah, so needless to say, this whole house needed major updated! Can't wait to show pictures in a few weeks. There will be lots more redoing old furniture, crafting, etc. Be on the look out.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend..it's almost here!! :)
Blessings!

A few months ago I needed a cute soap dispenser that would go with my kitchen decor. So I searched online "Mason Jar Soap Dispenser" and came up with this.

A Mason Jar Soap Dispenser is a great way to add a touch of country charm to your home! You can easily, and inexpensively make your own soap dispenser by following these instructions!
The first step is to obtain either a clear or a tinted - blue Mason jar with a "small mouth". This type of jar, which is actually used for canning fruits, vegetables and meats, can usually be found in the standard quart size. They are also made in some smaller sizes as well. How big, or how small the jar is completely up to you. Here's an important tip: if you obtain a used Mason jar, inspect it to make sure that it is free from defects, cracks, and other damage.
The next step is to obtain a seal and a ring. The seal is a flat top that fits inside the ring. The ring is a round, metal part that screws onto the threads of the jar; it tightens the seal. It's best that you use a brand new ring and seal as used parts can become rusty after a period of use. You will also need a soap dispenser pump. Here's a tip: you can often purchase soap dispensers for cheap at your local dollar store. Use the pump for this project, and save the container for another project! You can purchase just the pumps either at your local craft store, or on the Internet. Just make sure it's a two - part pump. Make sure the tube of the pump is long enough to reach down almost to the bottom of the Mason jar. If the tube is too long, you can easily trim it down to the right size with a pair of scissors. And, you will need a rubber washer that has a hole that is the same size as the tube of the pump.
Now comes the fun part of this project. It's time to decide how you want to decorate your Mason Jar Soap Dispenser. There are many different ways to do this in order to personalize your own dispenser. You can make the Mason jar as plain or as fancy as you want it to be. You can leave the jar and the metal parts plain, with just a pretty ribbon tied around the neck. Or, you can paint the jar and the metal parts in whatever colors you may choose. You can even cover the entire jar in pretty cloth that has country patterns on it. The possibilities are almost endless!
Here's an important tip for you: keep in mind, that, as you are decorating the seal you will need to drill a hole in the middle of it later on.
After you have decorated the Mason jar and the metal parts to your liking, allow any paint, glue, et cetera, to dry thoroughly before you proceed on to the next step.
Now it's time to assemble the pump part of your soap dispenser. To do this, you will need to carefully measure, then drill a hole, in the center of the seal of the Mason jar. Then, on the inside of the seal, you will need to use a good, waterproof adhesive to glue the rubber washer over the drilled hole.
Carefully unscrew the ring from the soap dispenser pump. Use a good, waterproof adhesive to glue the ring directly over the center hole. Allow the glue to thoroughly dry before you move on to the next step.
Finally, once the glue is dry, put the tube of the pump into the hole in the center of the seal. Screw it down tightly, place the seal on the jar, and screw on the ring. Fill it with liquid soap, and your Mason Jar Soap Dispenser is ready for use.

Dr. Seuss Matching Game

Lately Connor has been watching the TV show Cat and the Hat and I stumbled across this matching game on Oopsey Daisy and I couldn't help but try it would with Connor. He loves matching things together as much as he can and I thought that this would make it a little bit fore fun. And I was right! He loved it.
Download the game here. After downloading, just cut up the cards and you can also mount them on card stock if you choose. And wola! It's a game! It's pretty simple matching for little ones probably ages 1-3 (at the oldest) Connor breezed through them. But it's also fun to make up other games with them as well. Like, "find me the GREEN grinch", "count the fish", "how many RED hats can you find", etc

Happy Columbus Day!

Hope everyone has a nice Columbus Day! :) Had to leave you with a few of my favorite pictures from the Beach of our oldest daughter. As I was looking at some Ocracoke pictures. I couldn't help but pick this one out. I can't believe our oldest is in kindergarten already. Where is the time going. It was just like yesterday that we were going into the hospital to have her. If only we could rewind back in time just for a little bit and then fast forward them to today.

MUCH Needed Family Update
Wow! Has it really been since April that I last updated everything on here. Well I thought that I would do it right and update the whole website as well. I hope you find it all enjoyable if not interesting. And I promise, we will try our very best to keep everyone in the loop of things on here. With pictures, updates, crafty ideas to some good looking food recipes. I will try to have it all on here for you. Keep on the look out for updates - there will be!
We have added new "pages" on here. One for each of the kids, our love story and of course Tupperware! Don't forget to check it all out.
Well, to make this as short as possible. We have moved back "home". You know what they say about Virginia? Virginia is For Lovers! We moved back here little than a month ago give or take. Little Miss is in Kindergarten and loving it! I think she is liking riding the bus most of all. :) She is also in dance again this year. We really love the place that she is going to and excited to see what this year has to bring for her and dance. Connor is as cute as possible. Enjoying his one on one time with Mommy. But, when it's time to watch for the bus can not wait till he sees Sister get off the bus to have someone play with. He loves his sister!
We are starting to "settle" in our new home. We are still in the mist of redoing the apartment. The flooring will be laid down tomorrow and then hopefully by next Monday the carpet will be installed. Praying at least, if not sooner. But we have lived this long, whats another few days right?! LOL...
We miss our friends so much in PA everyone. I miss our Mommy coffee times, our play dates, etc. It is still very hard. We can not say enough how much our friends mean to us. Their family that's for a lifetime. :)
Here is a song that Quinn and I have been listening to the past few months. What a powerful song this is. Lead me. Isn't it amazing that God is there with you every step of the way. That He leads us with strong hands. To stand up, when we think we can't. ((video is at the bottom of this blog))

Salt & Pepper Shrimp
Tonight I made some mean looking Salt & Pepper Shrimp. Well, it was really mean...it was good good to the tummy that's for sure.
- 1/2 pound of shrimp (peeled and deveined is optional)
- 2-3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of corn oil
- salt & pepper to your taste/liking
- optional, I also cut up an half of a onion and then cooked them before doing the shrimp and then served over white rice. But that's up to you.
Salt the shrimp and let sit for a few minutes. (A little more than 'lightly' salted) and then rinse under cold water. NOTE: This plumps up the shrimp and freshens them up. Now lightly salt the shrimp. Add grated black pepper - as much as you want. Dip the shrimp in cornstarch and then lightly dust off. In a smallish saute pan (or wok), heat the oil to very hot, but not smoking. Spread the shrimp in the pan evenly. Hopefully they will all fit. After a minute or so, turn them on the other side. (don't walk away from the pan - they don't take that long to cook) After another minute or two when they have turned pink, take them out of the pan. I sometimes cook the shrimp just a little under cooked. Because they still continue to cook even after the leave the pan. Squeeze some lime on and ENJOY!

Wow, what can I say? Our family has been through some crazy few months since the last time I updated on here back in April. Lots of great events have happened and not so great things. But God is still good and continually will be faithful to our family and the friends that truly love and support.
April was a good month for all of us. Here are a few pictures from April that the kids and us did.

Well it's been awhile since I have updated anything on here. I guess that time just goes by so fast...and that life is just crazy busy. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I was thinking this weekend that I have been truly blessed with the family, friends, church ect ect that God has placed in my life and with our family. God is truly an amazing God!
I guess that I should update on the kids a little. They are both getting so big so fast. Mckayla will be 4 in June. She is becoming a little lady each and every time I look at here. Here is a picture that I took the other day. She had her dance pictures taken and before heading to the studio to take them, I thought that I would take a few myself here at home. She will be also be starting school in the Fall. We can't believe that our little baby girl will be starting school soon. But I guess that the have to grow up sometime. LOL...
Connor is getting big everyday! He is doing a lot more things than he did even last month. He is starting to take control and let his big sister who is in charge.

It's All About Connor Buba!
Isn't he just the cutest little boy?!
Someone asked me the other day how old Connor was. I replied, "he's 1 1/2" With Quinn following, "no he's not, he's almost two months for being TWO!" What? Where is the time going? I know your not talking about my little boy! So, yes..sad to say that my "little" boy that I was thinking that will never grow up will be 2 in less than two months. He'll always be my little boy!
We are deff. approaching the "T-Twos" Which isn't as bad as I thought they would be with having a big sister in the house. He's starting to stand up for himself, "fight" back and letting his sister that he's not going to take it. Well...that's our definition of it. hahaa..So we will have to see.
As you can see Connor has really taking a liking in Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder and Jay Jay the Jet Plane. All so fitting don't you think for our family. He is starting to go crazy when he sees or hears one of their theme songs.

My Take on Orange Chicken
Have you ever gone to a Chinese restaurant and had something that you crave every time you go there or even think about Chinese food. I do! About 2 years ago I went to a local Chinese restaurant and absolutely feel in love with this dish! So, the other night I tried to come up with a easier and cheaper way to make it at home. So here it is..My take on Orange Chicken.

Orange Chicken
2 pounds boneless chicken pieces, skinned (i didn't use all of it, i saved some for another mean this week)
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
White pepper
Oil (for frying)
1/2 cup cornstarch PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup flour
1-2 tablespoon crushed red pepper (depending how spicy you like it)
1 tablespoon rice wine
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
The Sauce:
1 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoon water
5 tablespoons sugar
5 tablespoons white vinegar
Cut chicken pieces into 2-inch squares and place in large bowl. Stir in egg, salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon oil and mix well. Stir cornstarch and flour together. Add chicken pieces, stirring to coat. Heat oil for deep-frying in wok or deep-fryer to 375 degrees. Add chicken pieces, small batch at time, and fry 3 to 4 minutes or until golden and crisp. Remove chicken from oil and let it drain on paper towel. You may want to add grated zest of 1 orange to the sauce! It's not that hard, I just through it all together... and it didn't taste too bad. Work with it, but at the end it's all worth it!! I served with white rice as well. Yummy!! Enjoy!

Wow, is it already 2010!? It's been so long since I have been on here to update or do anything with this website. Hopefully now that Thanksgiving, Christmas, ect ect is all over with I will be able to take some down time and update on our family for all of you.
Wow, oh where oh where do I begin?
Thanksgiving this year we were able to spend time with my family this year in Chesapeake. It wasn't a long trip, but a good one to spend time with family and friends. We missed being with my husband's side of the family. They were in Michigan and we knew we weren't able to make the drive/time with Quinn's work schedule. We deff. would have love to spend time with them and missed them at Thanksgiving. Also during Thanksgiving, Quinn and I were able to visit and stay with my Grandma when she was in the 'home'. It was a sweet time that we were able to sit with her. We read, sang, prayed and just talked to her. She wasn't able to talk back, but we knew that deep down she understood. It was a "heart connection" is what we called it.
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas I have a few Chesapeake trips to see my Grandma and to have a Tupperware Party in Virginia Beach. So that was really fun! Also, I made a very very quick trip with the kids right around Thanksgiving. They spent the weekend with my family while Quinn and I went away with our SLT (elders) team for a great time of renewal, building tighter friendships and just to relax. It was again, a very good time with the people that we serve with here at church. They have become not only friends but like our family here. We admire, love, and really respect them and couldn't have done the past 4 months (while our pastor was gone) without them.
Also between Thanksgiving and Christmas we have enjoyed snow falls (which all of us love) and time with our family and friends! Quinn's mother was able to come down (from MI) to stay with the children while I was gone for a few days in Chesapeake for the Tupperware party and to spend time with my Grandma/family. That along was just a blessing for myself, the kids/Quinn and my family. The kids loved spending some time with their Grandma!
On Dec. 21, my Grandma (mom's mom) pasted away after fighting from a massive stroke back in November. At the beginning she was in ICU for a about a week/+ and then in a home where she spent a good 4+ weeks. It was so hard for my Mother. Knowing what she had to go through, it was only by the power of God through prayer, love and faith that she got through those weeks. I can't even imagine. After being in the home for awhile, they brought Grandma home. It was time. Taking her off of the feeding tube, meds, ect. We didn't think she would last more than a few days. She's a tough lady and I don't think she was ready. She lasted for 1 week and she went to be her with husband and Jesus on Dec. 22nd.
Quinn, I and the kids then were able to leave the Christms Eve morning (very early). We spent Christmas Eve at Mt. Pleasant for their service. Christmas was a bitter sweet for all of us. This was our first Christmas without any Grandparents and was the first 'family event/dinner' that Grandma was gone. But knowing that she was in a much better place was able to ease all of our hearts.
When we got back home, we were again hit with another snow fall. It had snowed a lot before we left and it was starting to melt day by day. But then when we got back a few days later it snowed again. Lovely it was. We aren't loving the wind though that has come along with this storm. It has been very cold and very windy.
We can't believe we are already in Jan. Where is the time going? At the end of this month Quinn and I will be celebrating our 6 year wedding anniversary. My parents are thinking about coming up that weekend so that Sunday (31st) we can take a afternoon/evening for just ourselves. Go out to eat without the kids. That's one thing that we do miss is our dates together. With children, work, church and time/money we sometimes go months without a one on one date. But again, I can't complain. I have a loving and wonderful husband that works so hard. We have each other, good health, our children and serve a mighty and awesome God..And what could be better than that?
So anyways...2010 we are expecting some really great things that will happen. We are going to be getting ready for a little girl that will be starting kindergarten in the Fall, ballet programs, soccer in the Spring, and many many more! Connor will be learning new things and more things as well. We are excited to see his personalty come out more and more. And maybe, just maybe we will mix in a new house and maybe a new addition. (end of the year) ;) But time will only tell. God know the plans He has for us. Trusting in Him and knowing that He IS in Control. Fully.
Love & Blessings for the new year of 2010!
