Cheddar and Chive Biscuits

These are wonderful biscuits that our family loves to eat! I got them from the book Cookies by ilaire Walden that I was given a few years ago by a very good friend. There are many types of irresistible cookies, brownies, biscuits and bars in this book.

These soft biscuits and delicious warm, split and spread with garlic butter; served with any soup or a main dish.

Makes 20

1 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
5 tablespoons unsalted butter (chopped)
1/2 cup graded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
3/4 cup buttermilk

1) Preheat oven to *400, grease baking pan

2) Mix your flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pepper into a large bowl. Rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles a coarse bread crumbs mixture. Add the cheese and chives and stir in mix.

3) Add the buttermilk and stir until batter comes away from the bowl.

4) Drop in 2 tablespoon mounds - about 2-3 inches apart, Bake for 12-25 minutes until golden brown.

After I am done and ready to serve I am spread some homemade garlic butter - watch is melt and eat!!
